Each person in the education world, has the privilege to use the Internet during school hours for learning activities and research. This privilege can easily be taken away if students, parents, or teachers don't use it properly. They each have the responsibility to make good choices while online. Reading and being familiar with the acceptable use policy is very important.

Your Internet Service Provider should offer ways to keep you safe while online. They should provide protection against viruses and spyware. They should also have services to protect your privacy and protect your personal computer as well.

Student Understanding:

To make sure your child understands the rules of being online, make sure you talk to them. Ask them about their online contacts, have access to their passwords, and if they should give out their personal information to anyone they meet online. The "rules" might need to change as they get older. They might think you're being nosy, but they will appreciate it one day! Their safety is the most important.
